Wesley is currently a member of Jockey Club Opera Hong Kong Young Artist Development and Education Programme. He received Master of Music (Voice) degree at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the tutelage of Prof. Nancy Yuen, and Bachelor of Arts (Music) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong with scholarships. Prior to this, Wesley received vocal training from Sam Kan. He was also deeply inspired by Ms Lee, music teacher of SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School.
His operatic roles include Tamino, Monostatos & First Armoured Man in Mozart’s Magic Flute; Hoffmann, Spalanzani, Nathanaël, Frantz & Pitichinaccio in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann; Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi; and Apollo in Handel’s Semele. He also performed as the tenor soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Tippett’s A Child of Our Time, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Scriabin’s Symphony no.1. Conductors he has collaborated with include Prof. Chan Wingwah, Prof. Carmen Koon, Mak Ka Lok, Pietro Mianiti, Eitan Globerson and Dejan Savić. Wesley has performed in masterclasses by Eric Halfvarson and Nelly Miricioiu, as well as Roberto Abbondanza and Isabel Gentile at Accademia della Voce, Italy, where he received the prize, “Premio per la sezione Canto Lirico in ricordo di Roberto Cambri”.
Wesley studied with Prof. Ildikò Ramondi with scholarship at the International Summer Academy of University Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.
Wesley is currently a voice instructor of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Junior Programme, and conductor of The Hong Kong Children’s Choir. He is also a vocal coach of the musical “Singout”, presented by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre.
