She lives in the United States and received her Master&#8217;s degree in Music at the Manhattan School of Music.<\/p>\n<p>Silvana was the First Prize and Special Prize winner of the vocal division in the 14th Romanian International Music Competition in Japan. She performed her winner\u2019s concerts at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and Takanawa Ward Center Hall. She also held her Solo Vocal Recital at the Romanian Embassy in Tokyo. In 2023, Silvana was invited to sing her Romania Concert Tour at Athenaeum in Bucharest, as well as Cultural Centers in Brasov and St. George.<\/p>\n<p>Silvana is actively involved with new productions. Her recently premiered operas are Iranian American opera The Threshold of Brightness by Iranian composer Niloufar Nourbakhsh with Beth Morrison Projects at National Sawdust in New York City. She also premiered the Italian opera Furiosus, composed by Roberto Scarcella Perino at Merkin Hall Lincoln Center, and Mass for the Future by American composer George M. Atwell.<\/p>\n<p>Silvana\u2019s operatic roles include \u201cThe 2nd Lady\u201d in Mozart\u2019s The Magic Flute, \u201cSuzuki\u201d in Puccini\u2019s Madama Butterfly, \u201cMary\u201d in Wagner\u2019s Der Fliegende Holl\u00e4nder, \u201cAbbess and Monitor\u201d in Puccini\u2019s Suor Angelica, \u201cIrene\u201d in Handel\u2019s Atalanta, \u201cBradamante\u201d in Handel\u2019s Alcina, \u201cGiovanna\u201d in Verdi\u2019s Rigoletto,\u201cOrlofsky\u201d in Johann Strauss\u2019s Die Fledermaus, \u201cCherubino\u201d in Mozart\u2019s Le Nozze di Figaro, \u201cGertrude\u201d in Gounod\u2019s Romeo et Juliette, and \u201cStepmother\u201d in Broadway Musical Into the Woods by Steven Sondheim.<\/p>\n<p>In Concert appearance, Silvana was featured as Mezzo soloist in Mozart\u2019s Coronation Mass at Lincoln Center, and Beethoven\u2019s Choral Fantasy at Carnegie Hall. Other Mezzo Solo works include Bach\u2019s Cantata \u201cWir danken dir, Gott\u201d BWV 29, Bach\u2019s St. Mark Passion and St. John Passion. Maurice Durufl\u00e9\u2019s Requiem, Handel\u2019s Messiah, Vivaldi\u2019s Gloria, Vaughan William\u2019s Mass in G Minor, as well as Mozart\u2019s Requiem etc in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Silvana Chu serves as a cantor and soloist at St. Patrick\u2019s Cathedral in New York City, where she performs for concert series and church services. Silvana\u2019s recent performances as Alto Soloist are Mozart-Mass KV220 and Bach-St.John Passion in NYC.
